Big Month of Wins for the Adlab

The One Club/Young Ones – The School of Communications AdLab, being touted by the One Club for Creativity as “a heavy hitter” amongst the most elite art design Schools in the world, has made an incredibly impressive showing on the organization’s Young Ones shortlist with over 130 entries. The One Club’s announcement reads: “The smoke has officially cleared from the first round of Young Ones judging, revealing that entries from 165 different schools and 31 countries have wowed enough jury members to be moved into the next round. The usual heavy hitters are all here — the School of Visual Arts, Brigham Young University, Art Center College of Design, and the like — but it’s always a treat to see so many lesser-known institutions coming through!”

To be categorized as a force to be reckoned with in the company of the world’s top design schools is a noteworthy accomplishment in itself for this group, which consists of a relatively small handful of our AdLab creative track students who are holding their own – and then some – as they match their work against that of schools whose programs are solely dedicated to art design.

The Young One’s student winners will be announced at an awards ceremony at Manhattan’s Sony Hall on May 15. View the full shortlist here.

AAF NSAC competition – Professor Jeff Sheets has been working with a few juniors and seniors in his 371R class this semester on the AAF National Student Advertising Competition (NSAC). The NSAC District 12 competition was held this weekend in Tucson, AZ, hosted by the University of Arizona. The AdLab team did amazingly well, winning the first-place award.

The team will next compete in the virtual semi-finals with a chance to attend the National Finals in St. Louis June 1-4. The students have a strong strategy and creative campaign this year and are hopeful for a National win. The project (Indeed-Dream Job) can be viewed here.
